I am currently on a weight-loss regime. Got a doctor to prescribe Duramine 30mg for a month supply. I have started to take the Appetite Suppressant pill yesterday. The doctor warned me about the side effects, he said that the pill will make me more alert. I thought, hey... that is good, isn't it? So no more dozing off in the MRT. The doctor warned me too, that if I forget to take the pill in the morning, "DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take it at night before bed. You won't be able to sleep." That would be nice if I have Jazz with me.
He said that I will experience headaches for the initial few days, due to lack of sleep. This will be over after few days. My mouth will be dry, so I need to drink lots of water. That is good I guess, because the minimum requirement is 8 glasses of water per day, which I am guilty of not even try to drink half the amount.
After taking the pill yesterday, I don't feel hungry for the whole day. I had one banana for breakfast and carrot soup for lunch. No dinner. But I feel a little disoriented, I feel lightheaded somehow. These appetite suppressants typically affect hunger control centers in the brain. But I do wonder, if by not eating, won't my body reacts because of lack of nourishments? Where will I get the energy from if not from food? Maybe from the years of stored fats around my belly. Probably I still need to eat something, before I faint or turn cold.
Last night, I couldn't sleep well. The pill was affecting my sleep. All night I kept tossing and turning, not due to stress or anything in at effect, but just that I couldn't sleep. I don't mind being alert during the day, but at night too? I never have problems falling asleep at night. The minute my head touches the pillow, that's it… good night world. But last night was a torture, I guess that is what insomnia is like.
From what I've read from the internet that some appetite suppressants can create psychological dependence because they contain amphetamine-like ingredients. Others can cause insomnia, drowsiness, irritability or depression.
The more common side effects are : Constipation; dizziness or lightheadedness; dryness of mouth; false sense of well-being; headache; irritability; nausea or vomiting; nervousness or restlessness; stomach cramps or pain; trembling or shaking; trouble in sleeping.
Within one day, I have experienced the lightheadedness, dryness of the mouth and trouble in sleeping.
For now, I will keep my weight update. Before I start this program, I was 52kg. Let us see how much I will loss in 2 weeks.
