My little girl

A perfect fit in cradled arms,
my little girl as ought to be,
protected from so many harms:
my little girl, a part of me.

Those dainty smiles of yours do glow
and flaunt the joy you have within.
Keep them with you as you go
for that is where good things begin.

Each time you turn to look at me
when shuts the door from me, behind,
and display a smile that I may see,
my love for you I always find.

But then my love for you is more
than what today you understand.
To you, today is nothing more.
To me tomorrow must be planned.

In you a child of care-free ways
my little girl as ought to be,
but then that part of you that stays
my little girl, a part of me.

The many women of the world,
their colors, daily they arrange
but when your banner flies unfurled
let your colors never change.

Hold to what is good and right
and follow not the worldly way.
Save yourself for only one.
Let no one else take that away.

For to be a girl is simply done.
A woman takes much more to be.
But a Lady is the finest breed,
the kind I hope you strive to be.

So many words the world can find
of what a lady is about.
They have theirs and I have mine
but that's what you must figure out.

But no matter what you choose to do
and the person you decide to be
there will always be that part of you,
My Little Girl, a part of me.
