Barely A Boy - Qhairiq Fadzran

For twelve years now I've watched you grow
I wish that I could find a way
To make the hands of time to slow
It seems like only yesterday

Now what once was weak and small
Is child of independent span
Your heart, it does outgrow it all
Barely a boy but almost a man

They warned me of the rapid rate
And speed that life would travel by
But you have made so real the fate
As I watch you grow before my eye

For I, in life, am at an age
Where memories on the heart do fall
In you so many every day
That I cannot retain them all

The sun that every day does rise
For its brightness, cannot take full view
The love I see within your eyes
Is twice as bright inside of you

And tomorrow when you are full grown
I'm sure you'll come to understand
And have a son to call your own
Barely a boy but almost a man
