King of Fruits

Durian, known to be the King of Tropical Fruits. It has a strong ordour and unique taste. The hard outer husk is covered with sharp, prickly thorns while the edible flesh within emits a distinctive odour, which is regarded as either fragrant or overpowering and offensive.

We had a feast of Durian the other day. For $20.00 we got 9 durians, courtesy of Ah Pui from the famous Jurong West stall, and of course the charm of Jazz. With 9 durians to finish with only 3 of us, it was a hard task, but I was loving it! Durian is my all time favourite.

I remembered when I was carrying Qhairul in my womb, I was craving for durian for months end, despite the non-season, I had to settled with Thai Durian instead, which they called "Mohtong". The succulent and creamy flesh with the peanut sized seed, I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Strangely, I couldn't find "Mohtong" anymore nowadays.

Look at the golden coloured flesh

Succulent and creamy

I can never have enough of durian

All muscled up

"Del, you try"

Don't give up - never say never
