Actually, I don't have the energy to write anything. I feel very sleepy although I have slept more than 12 hours last night. Imagine hitting the bed at 7 last night and woke up at 7.39 this morning. The best sleep I have had for a long time.
It seems that writing is the only way to keep me from being lazy and procrastinate. It is the only avenue for me to retaliate.
This year’s Hari Raya was just like any other Hari Raya. The children and I spent most of the day at my mom's. Just like always the guests came in batches. Most of the people I have wanted to see, I saw, and those that I didn't want to see, I saw too. Although some went missing, they were not missed. Anyway, enough talks about them. I will take the heed of my sister who said "No use of fighting" and Mum's "Let’s bygone be bygone", and keep my mouth (and my fingers) shut. If only I have the energy to do just that.
Everyone seems to flock around the dining table for a feast of ketupat, lontong and other Hari Raya delicacies that Mum has cooked up.
After everyone has left, we too take our leave and went to join another family. A welcoming environment although they have just lost a mother.

A week before hari raya, Mariam and I were busy experimenting recipes in her new kitchen. More appropriately, her new oven. She was so delighted to be able to bake her own cookies, that she didn't want to stop although it was late into the night. The look of satisfaction was glowing in her face. After more than 20 years of not baking her own cookies for Hari Raya, she is now a proud baker in her own kitchen. From her late mother's recipe book to her collections of recipes from the internet, we made chocolate chips and walnut cookies, sugee, peanut cookies, Cashew Nut cookies and one that Mariam named 'Biskut Bodoh'. And without my help, she made Toll House and Cornflakes for both of us. Up til now, she kept on wanting to bake more. Now, she wants me to guide her with her brownies. If only I have the time… Nowadays, I feel tired so very easily.
Oh well, more brownies and cakes and everyone is happy.
