BALImoon 6 to 8 Feb 2009
We went for a short 3 days 2 nights holiday in Bali. It has been awhile since I had a holiday without the kids.

Our journey starts at 6.30 am on Friday 6 Feb. After dropping Erin at school, we proceed to the Airport, and I was baffled by the taxi fare! With that money I can travel to KL and back. Anyhow, that didn't hinder my spirit to have a good time.

We checked in our luggage and had our morning coffee at Secret Recipe in the departure hall. I don't know what is wrong with today's teenagers. The language they used sometimes angered me and makes me want to puke. The girl behind the counter of Secret Recipe was complaining about her day with so much profanity that I think she was born sideways. 3 minutes of her clearing her bowel through her mouth, was too much for me to digest when I am in a mood for a good time. So, we took our leave and left her rambling to herself behind her counter. Secret Recipe's management needs to scan and train their service staff with the usage of a good proper language, even when they are in a foul mood.

We boarded the plane without much hassle. The aircraft was pack to the brim, full of blondes and red-hair. From the look of it, we were the only Malay on board SQ942. We departed at 9.35 am, as scheduled.

Since we selected muslim meal, our meal was delivered to our seats 10 minutes after we took off! And knowing the Singapore Girls, they were efficient and the service was excellence.

Our meal high up in the air

Even the good food, doesn't tempt this man to eat

We arrived in Bandara Ngurah Rai at 12.00pm, as scheduled. After collecting our bags and clear the immigration, we proceed to the exit. It was hilarious to see so many people holding placards with names on it. It was too much, and I told Jazz to just walk through and look for Conrad. True enough, the Conrad staff was waiting for us, I gave them a nod to tell them we are here.
Without a minute to lose, Jazz asked our driver where he can get cigarette! I proceed to our limo with our driver, while the other service staff took Jazz to the nearest ‘Circle K’, Bali’s version of Seven-Eleven. Jazz was grinning happily with a bag in his hand. Coke and cigarettes, the right combination for a satisfying holiday. In the Limo, we were given a cold towel to freshen up and a bottle water to quench our thirst so as to make the 20 minutes drive to the resort more comfortable. Such great service.

Reception was orderly and the welcome drink was brought out to us in the big and classy lobby or verandah overlooking the stunning swimming pool and the Indian Ocean. We need not to check in at the counter, as the counter staff came to our table with the service and a smile. We were treated like a VIP. And our great days begin.

We arrived in Conrad Resort and Spa, Bali
Save and sound

The view from the lobby was spectacular

Conrad Monkey - They are everywhere

View from our room

Our room was huge. Of course, the first thing we do when we entered a room, we check out the bathroom… it was huge, with long bath! Everything looks perfect! Our terrace was overlooking the swimming pool and partially the Indian Ocean. It was breathtaking. Okies, time to snap pictures!

Our Resort Deluxe Room

Our Terrace was overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Conrad Main Pool, and the entertainment bale

Happy!

After an afternoon nap that we needed so much, we got ready and went into Kuta by Taxi. The fare was IDR75,000, about USD7.00. The taxi driver was Bapak Made, who recommended us to visit Kintamani to view Mount Batur and visit the rice terrace. Of course he was trying to sell his service, and offer to drive us the next day with a price of IDR300,000, which is much much lower than USD87.00 of the hotel rate for an 8 hour tour.
Conrad Lobby. Waiting for our taxi to bring us to Kuta

When we were in Kuta, we saw lots of horse cart (Dokar) on the road and we decided to take a ride around Kuta. It was actually one of my wish to ride a Dokar when we are in Bali, mentioned that to Jazz before our trip, and he endulged me when we got there. Thanks darling.

Another cute Dokar on the road.

We visited the Sari Club, where the Bali Bombing on 2002 took place. The monument that they've put up to remember the 200 people who died on that tragic night. Rest in Peace.

While we were walking around Kuta, looking for soveniers, we witnessed a live drama. There was a snatched theft. It happened just a few steps ahead of us, we heard a woman's scream, and suddenly the place was crowded. Asking the people around us of what had happened, they said it was a snatch thief. We saw the crowd were pouncing on someone.
We left the crowd in a cab, and the driver said that the thief is considered dead. That is what happen to snatch thief, the crowd will take justice into their own hands.
"Pencopet itu udah kira mati Pak, di keroyok massa. Untung ada polisi disitu, jadi tidak bisa keroyok massa... kalau tidak, bisa mati itu orang! Pukul dulu, soal jawap nya nanti besok besok"
"Haaaa??" So, the moral of the story is, when you are in Bali, and you decided to copet, do it when he police are around. So you won't get beaten to death!
The taxi driver recommended us to have a seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay. So he took us to a restaurant, which we are pretty sure he will get a commission for bringing in customers.
The food was nothing to talk about, but the entertainment was fabulous. The ambience was definitely romantic. They have tables on the white sand, overlooking the sea. Although it was pitch dark, but the sound of the waves really bring us back to our good old days living next to the sea.

Our entertainer. Shy guys.
