Gratitude
To all who have made it possible. To those who have made the laughter louder and came from the heart. To those who have arrived an hour earlier, just to make sure that they did not lost their way and arrived on time. To all who have made the friendship even stronger than it ever was. To those who have worked so hard while the rest feast on the glorious food. To those who have lost their voices due to too much laughing and too much chatting. To those who have developed cramped on their cheeks due to excessive smiles. To those who can’t get up from their seats from too much eating. To those who have hugged more people in 2 hours than they ever did 29 years ago. To those who can’t contain their high-pitch voice to an acceptable level but all in good spirit. To those who came all the way from across the causeway just to be among friends. To the birthday gal who was willing to share her 1 kg cake with 60 other guests. To those who left their family at home just to rejoice the relationship of 33 years of friendship. To those who have tasted the 55 kind of dishes on the Hi-Tea spread. To those who help themselves on other’s plates. To those who have exchanged contacts for their own future events. To those who can’t stop talking. To those who were clicking away with their latest digital cameras. To those who can’t stop laughing. To those who sat in the corner with their watchful eyes and never fading smiles. To the spouses who have chaperoned their partners and settled in comfortably among us. To those who have realized their dream to chat up with the girl who they were head over heal with during school days. To those who came up to me and said “I remember you!” when I don’t even know who they were, but happy nonetheless that we finally meet. To the guy who said "Norzihan... kenal tak? I – lah... last time with Jeffry, Muzain, Nasir..." After much thinking... "Oh...?! Eh... dulu you tinggi... apasal sekarang pendek?" To those who were willing to stay up late after the event because the time was too short and the feelings were too good to let go. To those who have sms-ed the organizer of their sincere thanks for the wonderful time. To those who have contributed prizes for the lucky dip. To those who have contributed their time and energy, monetary and effort, creativity and initiative, administration and technical, labour and transport. To he who have left his hospital bed for his impending surgery to be among friends and lend his voice and trying to speak louder than the noisy crowd, so that welcome speech being heard, gratitude being received, prizes being won, friends being acknowledge, and most of all... prayers being answered.
To them, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If 29 years ago in 1978, I was just one of the thousands of students in Yusof Ishak Secondary School, today… I am among friends.
Again, I thank you.
